Miss Delacourt book review

This book is great. I was able to read it all on saturday. Being in the car for 4 hours helped - and the book helped me stay sane while in the car for those 4 hours (as my kids screamed from the back seats.)
I loved the part about the duel. The outcome is funny and unlike any duel I've ever heard of. However, I'm not going to tell you what happened - you have to read the book to find out.
My favorite part about this book was that the characters deviated from the rules of propriety just enough to make things interesting. But they weren't complete deviants, either. I really like Jane Austen books, but sometimes they are all so stuck in a shell of decorum that it gets frustrating. And I've also read some books where the characters were completely rule free (remember that historical Harlequin romance book I read - yeah....yikes.)
I can't wait to see what Heidi has written for the next book. I saw on her blog the other day that she finished writing the manuscript, so now all I have to do is wait for it to be published. I can wait, right? I'm totally good at waiting....
Ok not so good at wiating, so maybe I'll just bribe her for a copy of that manuscript - anyone have any dirt on Heidi Ashworth? If you have something juicy enough, I'll let you borrow the manuscript when I'm done with it.

It's been known to happen---I actually allowed a blogger to read Miss D before it came out because she asked sweetly. She is now one of my best buds. I just submitted the sequel to Miss D--and it's better than the first, if I do say so myself (so did my critique group). Still waiting to hear if it's a go--my publisher doesn't really do sequels. If they can't do it, I'll self publish through Amazon and you'll have it in your hot little hands by the end of the year. (Thanks for the lovely review! Love it!)

So, I'm sorry to say that I have no dirt on her. But will you let me see the manuscript anyway? Just because I'm nice? No? I didn't think so. . . I'll see what I can find out. . . :)

So I just requested it..lucky me our library has it! I just finished Pope Joan and I loved it, I highly recommend it! The first chapter made me really glad that I didn't have to birth children in the 8th century! I got so hooked on the book I ignored my kids all the way home from Utah so I could read...and that is a lot further than 4 hours away!

I think I just creeped out my four year old. I pulled out the, "You'd better go to bed because Santa's Elves are watching you to make sure you're being good!" routine. His eyes got big, and round, and scared. And he said, "Why would they do that?!" Also, our church building burned down yesterday. No wait, it didn't. But the alarm went off, and the entire ward just sat there in the chapel (and gym, because we have an enormous ward.) I sat there too. I don't know what everyone else was thinking, but the thought going through my head was, "Can somebody please get that alarm turned off, it is WAY TOO LOUD!!!!" hair loss and mourning

I like Monkey's hair long.  I tried to grow out Opie's hair when he was younger, but he has always had a tremendously large head, and he also has very thick wavy hair.  You pair those two together, throw in some long locks, and you've got yourself a genuinely bonified giant-head child.  So I've learned my lesson: keep Opie's hair short. But Monkey's hair?  It's so soft, and straight (our only straight-haired child) and super super cute when it's long.  SUPER CUTE.  (Agree with me - it's my blog.)  But not many people liked the whole long hair thing.  I kept having to threaten various family members with things like, "If I come back to find him with short hair I will DISOWN you, run away with my kids and you will never hear from us again.  EVER."  (Husband was particularly sensitive to this threat.) so here's the thing...

I have to make an announcement. But it's not one that I'm thrilled to make. For the past week I've been ignoring it so that, like the proverbial dog, it will just GO AWAY. Honestly, the odds of it just going away are slim to fat-chance, so I should just announce it already. I'm moving. To Utah. Every time I think about it, I also think I'm going to throw up. I know there's a lot of people who like living in Utah, so I don't want to offend anyone, but I HATE UTAH. Direly. And when I moved away a decade ago I vowed never ever ever ev-er to move back.  EVER.  ( Motherboard told me last week to never make that vow because then God HAS to force you to move back - - too bad her warning is about 10 1/2 years too late.) So now, I'm sure you're asking yourself, "If you hate it so bad, why are you moving?"  Which is an excellent question.
